The energetic Cheering Larry always supports the athletes with cheer megaphone and cheerleader pom poms, adding momentum to HKG.

Online voting was conducted in the period between 26 June and 31 July 2020, when the public were invited to select their favourite mascot to best represent the HKG from three shortlisted designs. As a result, more than 3 000 votes were received and Cheering Larry received the highest number of votes to become the mascot of the HKG.
Cheering Larry is a sports enthusiast who represents liveliness, achievement, record-breaking, rapport and youthfulness. To encourage public participation in the HKG, he will show up in the publicity and community participation programmes of the Games, and he will also cheer on the athletes during sports competitions.

Cheering Larry was born in the middle of pandemic when Hong Kong people were very concerned and worried about the development of COVID-19. Our optimistic, cheery and resilient Cheering Larry has joined hands with Hong Kong people in the fight against the pandemic, with the hope of cheering at the top of his lungs to scare the disease away with his super positive energy.

Cheering Larry did HKG Fitness Exercise and tried some simple exercise at home via the webinars of the 8th HKG. He was also engaged in the production of exercise video during the fight against the pandemic, seeking to show his passion and enthusiasm for sports and share his sports knowledge and skills with the community.
Cheering Larry and Hong Kong people stand united to fight against the pandemic. Recognising the importance of staying fit and healthy, Cheering Larry will continue to work hard to strengthen his body together with Hong Kong people.

Cheering Larry had thought of doing something for his district by participating in the selection competition. However, he doesn't think he could ever be as good as an athlete at the sight of his big belly. As a Hongkonger, he will surely be there to cheer the athletes on, move ahead with them and motivate them to strive to qualify for HKG and achieve better results.
