In view of the latest situation of COVID-19 and the Government’s tightened social distancing measures, "The Jockey Club Vitality Run" originally scheduled to be held on 6 March 2022 will be cancelled. A new event - "The Jockey Club Vitality Run - Virtual Run" will be held and its programme details will be announced in due course.

As the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 is now in force, the community participation programmes of the 8th Hong Kong Games, namely "The Star-studded Classroom: Athletics and Swimming Elite Athletes' Demonstration and Exchange Programme" and "Sports Legacy - Exercise to Get Super Fit", originally scheduled to be held between 2pm and 5.30pm today (October 9) at Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground will be cancelled.
The Athlete Selection of 18 districts for the 8th Hong Kong Games (HKG) will begin from October. Members of the public are encouraged to participate and represent their districts to compete in the HKG.
The 8th Hong Kong Games Star-studded Classroom – Basketball and Futsal Elite Athletes' Demonstration and Exchange Programmes will be open for enrolment by members of the public aged 5 or above from 14 September . Admission is free and each participant will receive a souvenir.

Online voting was conducted in the period between June 26 and July 31 this year, when the public were invited to select their favourite mascot to best represent the Hong Kong Games (HKG) from three shortlisted designs. As a result, more than 3 000 votes were received and Cheering Larry received the highest number of votes to become the mascot of the HKG.
The 8th Hong Kong Games (HKG) has been postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 epidemic situation. Athlete selection in the 18 districts, originally scheduled to start this year, will be held from April 2021 to January 2022 instead, while inter-district sports competitions will begin in March 2022.
The 8th Hong Kong Games (HKG) Organising Committee announced details of the HKG in a press conference held at Kowloon Park Sports Centre today (26 June). The 18 District Councils will conduct open selection exercise to select athletes to compete in the HKG for their respective districts from September 2020 to February 2021.
Hong Kong Games Mascot Voting has now begun. Members of the public may select one out of the three mascot designs that you believe best represent the Hong Kong Games (HKG). The design with the highest number of votes will be adopted as the mascot of the HKG. The voting will end at 31 July 2020.
