Category: Men's and Women's competition
Quota: 18 district men's and women's teams (Each team to consist of a maximum of 15 players, a coach and a team leader).
Age: Players must be aged 18 or over (on event day 11 May and 13 May).
Eligibility:
  1. Player must be a registered rugby player of the HKRU. Free registration in the below
    HKRU website- https://www.hkrugby.com/domestic/player-registration
  2. Coaches of the District Teams are not allowed to be registered as player, coach or team leader of any team.
  3. No Senior National 15s or 7s players for both the men's and women's teams, are eligible to take part in the competition.
Format:
  1. Day 1 – Pool Matches: for both the men's and women's competition, teams will be randomly drawn into 6 pools (A – F pools) of 3 teams (district teams). Each team will play 1 match again the other district teams in the same pool, 2 games. The 1st placed ranked team from each pool (6 teams) will proceed to day 2 (finals). The 'top' and 'second' 2nd placed ranked teams (2 teams) will also proceed to the finals on day 2. A total of 8 teams into the knock out rounds on day 2.
  2. Day 2 – Finals/Knock outs: the 8 qualifying teams will proceed with knock out games. The winning teams (4 teams) from the quarter finals round of matches, will proceed to compete for the cup and plate in the Cup/Plate Semi Finals, whilst the losing teams (4 teams) will compete for the Bowl/Shield Semi Finals.

    The winning teams (2 teams) from Cup/Plate Semi Finals, will compete in the Cup Finals, which will also determine 1st and 2nd place ranking in the overall tournament. The losing teams (2 teams) from the Cup/Plate Semi Finals, will compete in the Plate Finals, which will also determine 3rd and 4th place rankings in the overall tournament.

    The winning teams (2 teams) from Bowl/Shield Semi Finals, will compete in the Bowl Finals, which will also determine 5th and 6th place ranking in the overall tournament. The losing teams (2 teams) from the Bowl/Shield Semi Finals, will compete in Shield Finals, which will also determine 7th and 8th place rankings in the overall tournament.
